Emoji Kitchen on iPhone

Google’s Emoji Kitchen lives in the Android version of Gboard. On an iPhone you can still get emoji mashups; you just take a different door.

  1. Google Search in Safari

    Search emoji kitchen on google.com, tap Get cooking, choose two emoji and tap the copy icon. Paste into iMessage or WhatsApp. Only pairs Google has drawn will work.

  2. SymbolMix in your browser

    Open the SymbolMix mixer, pick any two of 1,800+ emoji, press Copy sticker or Share. Every pair works. Tip: tap Share › Add to Home Screen to keep it one tap away.

  3. Genmoji (Apple Intelligence)

    On iPhones that support Apple Intelligence, tap the emoji key, then the Genmoji button, and describe what you want, like “a skull wearing a party hat”. It’s text-to-emoji rather than a two-emoji mix. Our AI emoji generator does something similar on any phone.

  4. Save a mashup as a sticker

    Download the PNG, open it in Photos, touch and hold the drawing and choose Add Sticker. On iOS 17 and later it then sits in your sticker drawer next to your emoji.

Why isn’t Emoji Kitchen in the iPhone keyboard?

Google launched Emoji Kitchen in Gboard for Android in 2020 and later brought it to Google Search. Gboard on iOS never received the feature, and third-party keyboards on iPhone have limited ability to insert images into other apps, which is how the stickers are sent on Android.

Does a mashup look the same to Android friends?

Yes. A mashup is sent as an image, not an emoji character, so it looks identical on every device. That’s different from standard emoji, which each phone draws in its own style.

Questions

Is Emoji Kitchen available on iPhone?

Not in the keyboard. Gboard for iOS does not include Emoji Kitchen, but you can use it in Google Search in Safari or the Google app, or use a web mixer like SymbolMix.

Is Genmoji the same as Emoji Kitchen?

No. Genmoji is Apple’s AI feature on supported iPhones with Apple Intelligence: you describe an emoji in words and it generates one. Emoji Kitchen combines two existing emoji into a pre-drawn sticker.

How do I paste a mashup into iMessage?

Copy the image (the copy button in Google’s mixer, or Copy sticker in SymbolMix), then long-press the message field and tap Paste. It sends as a picture. You can also save it to Photos and attach it.

Can I add mashups to my iPhone sticker drawer?

Yes. Save the PNG, open it in Photos, touch and hold the subject, then tap Add Sticker (iOS 17 and later). It then appears in your Stickers in the emoji keyboard.
